Las cárceles gimen desde sus cerrojos
en su puerta caen sin vida las plegarias
como pájaros que golpean sus alas contra el hierro
como blancos pañuelos húmedos

Y en torno el mundo impetuoso que gira
y en torno la vida colorida que se expande
con luminosidad, con sombras

Llueve y hay sol, pasa una nube
un arco con los colores del iris corva su prismática
hermosura
bajo él la cárcel, vientre enfermo
alambradas y espinas, cerrojos, agonías
se lava con el agua
y seca con el sol.

Jails

The prisons groan from their locks
prayers fall lifeless at its door
like birds beating their wings against iron
like white wet handkerchiefs

And around, the impetuous world that turns
and around, the colorful life that expands
with light, with shadows

It rains and there is sun, a cloud passes
an arc with the colors of the iris bends its prismatic
loveliness
under him the prison, sick belly
barbed wire and thorns, locks, agonies
washed with water
and dry in the sun.
